Okay, so we’ve always known that Agua de Madre tastes great. Now we’ve scooped a few Great Taste Awards, everyone else knows too! 

We’re so pleased that our Remedio Naturale and Elderflower & Apple kefir water have been selected by the Guild of Fine Food’s expert panel. As a small business, it’s the first time we’ve ever entered any of our products into the awards. Safe to say it’s very exciting to be recognised first time around.

Now we’re not normally ones to boast, but on this occasion we can’t contain our excitement. We’re literally fizzing with joy. When the judges tried our Remedio Naturale they had a lot of nice things to say: 

 ‘This product has a fresh and lively aroma. A simple but really convenient paste that would not only be great for tea-making but also used in cooking. If this is a by-product, it doesn’t feel like it… simple and delicious. It felt like it was doing us good!’

Tasting our Elderflower & Kefir Water, the judges said: ‘Clean texture and zingy initial taste… a very refreshing drink. The nose is apple and citrus but the first flavour to come through is elderflower backed up by lemon. All the ingredients produce a holistically refreshing, light and vibrant drink.’

We Madres are over the moon: all our passion and hard work has led us up to this moment, all those days at the Casa spent perfecting our recipe with taste tests and tweaks. For us, taste is the No. 1 top priority. It means everything… and so does this award!

Founder Nicola Hart says: ‘When I started the brand 4 years ago, I wanted a drink to replace wine when I went out for dinner. At this point, I fermented Agua de Madre from my kitchen for wonderful restaurants like Moro and Morito. I had no idea that it would take off and I am so excited to have won these medals.  

As a foodie I’m thrilled for our water kefir to have been recognised alongside so many other wonderful products. It’s so encouraging to be up there with the best of fine food and drink, and we couldn’t be more excited to see what the future holds’
